16/03: Mariah Salazar | Vernissage

We are happy to announce that we will be displaying a new artist on our walls! Mariah will introduce herself and her work, accompanied with beers, wines and spirits on the 16th from 19:30 onwards.

Originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA, Mariah met her husband, Obed, in college in 2016 and were married in 2019 in Oklahoma.

“In 2021 we had our son, Everett. Obed grew up in Brussels, which is how we ended up here! We moved to Belgium in August 2021. We’ve been looking for apartments since then and have just received one in Brussels a few weeks ago! We’ve been staying with family in the meantime in Antwerp. That’s how we are here now.
I’ve been painting since high school, and got serious about it a few years ago. I love expressing and letting go through painting. I love what my paintings do to people – what it makes them think of and feel. For me, art is an escape outside of my chaotic brain. It brings me peace and pure joy. It pushes me to grow and evolve and see things differently every day.
What I want most is to create space for those who feel they have none. People are the most beautiful art and need to be displayed and adored. So I want to be one of those people who help in that. I want to connect people and help them see how truly good and beautiful they are just as they are. Bottom line – I love people and I love to create and I love most when those things can collide in a beautiful way.”
